Baking soda offers hope against autoimmune disorders
Research published in the Journal of Immunology suggests that Sodium bicarbonate, more commonly known as baking soda, has the surprising effect of promoting an anti-inflammatory environment in the body.
A study conducted by the Medical College of Georgia has shown that drinking a baking soda solution triggers the stomach to make more acid and can prevent the spleen from triggering a protective immune response.
This could prove useful in the treatment of autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Also encouraging is that baking soda is a low-cost over-the-counter product.
The findings are preliminary, and more research is needed to establish the effects of baking soda on specific autoimmune disorders, but the findings are also very promising and could lead to new treatments in the near future.
Here at GetHealthy360 we avoid the sensational “miracle cures” plaguing the internet that are heavy on promise and light on medically backed research. This article definitely does not describe one of these “miracle cures”, as the research behind it is real and the findings are promising.
As always, speak with your medical practitioner prior to undertaking any type of treatment.
